Description
Non-profit organisations regularly get locked out of social media and other digital accounts, because of poor account management practice. Did you know, for example, that it’s against Facebook’s terms and conditions for users to have second profiles for work? And that Facebook regularly shuts down these second profiles?
Our toolkit runs through best practice for managing your social and digital accounts securely and ensuring that you don’t get locked out when someone leaves the organisation. It has information on how you can protect staff privacy, a detailed section on the many areas and quirks of Facebook, and the practical steps you need to take for each of the common platforms. In the toolkit, you’ll also get two templates to help you audit, fix and record your organisation’s digital accounts and their different setups.
This resource was created by Jean O’Brien of Digital Charity Lab, and Clare O’Donoghue Velikić of ODV Digital.
How do I know if my organisation needs to review our accounts?
Take our quick quiz to evaluate your accounts. It only has 6 questions and takes 1 minute to do. It will highlight if any of your organisation’s account management practices (like having second Facebook profiles, for example) is likely to cause you to get locked out.
